Why English Bulldogs cost so much?
The English Bulldog is a very popular and photogenic breed. Bullies also have that great look whether they are a puppy or adult, it's one breed that looks great at any age. Bulldogs usually (90%) of the time require a c-section for delivery of the puppies and artificial insemination to breed.
The cost for a English Bulldog can run between 1800-3000 dollars. Litter size average is 4 – 6 The Cost for a c-section, usually about
800.00- 1500.00 assuming it is during normal vet hours. After hours, weekends and holidays will run extra. A cost to breed the dog is usually around 500.00 for the semen/stud service plus shipping if applies.. Additionally there is the Dam pre breeding tests, exams, x-rays, and ultra sounds.
Then when a litter is born most of the time they must be hand helped when fed. A breeder will spend
many hours with the litter and mother during feeding 24 hours a day for several days. Bulldogs don't make the best mothers because they may lay on a puppy on accident and not even realize it. C-sections for bulldogs are required most of the time.
They’re worth every penny and once you have owned a bulldog you could never again be without one. Most breeders sell quality pet bulldogs for between $1800- $3000.00
but can cost as much as $5,500 depending on the bloodline. The average price for an English bulldog is $2750 across the country.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT English BULLDOGS
The first thing that should know when looking at the Bulldog breed is what you will expect from your canine companion.
SIZE: The English Bulldog is a medium-sized breed. They can range from the “mini” size of around 25-40 lbs all the way to the more “Standard” size of 40-55 lbs. Males tend to be larger. Although their passion in life is the EAT and SLEEP as we all know so the may tend to get larger than they really should be. They do well in a home or apartment setting. The folds and wrinkles of the face should receive daily care.
The average life span for a Bulldog is 10 years. Of course, that depends on diet, exercise, health and other factors.
Temperament: Bulldogs, for the most part, are laid back, smooth and easy going. The heat is the Bulldog's worst enemy. An air-conditioned home is required if you live anywhere that summer temperatures get above the mid 80's. They tolerate cold weather well, within reason of course. Bulldogs love going for rides in the car, and sleeping at the foot of your bed, or just being right by your side. They must have plenty of love to offer and are very loyal. They are guaranteed to make you laugh!!

Bulldogs will generally get along well with children, other pets and people. They seem to enjoy being part of the family. The Bulldog is a breed that holds its "beauty" as a puppy and as an adult. Many dogs look cute as puppies, but lose some physical appeal as they mature. The Bulldog looks great at any age! They are by no means considered a guard dog. They will, however, protect the people they love and will offer some security.
